The firm was founded in January 1997 by six trial lawyers who, together, left a large and well-respected Kansas City law firm to form their own law practice, with an unyielding commitment to excellence in every facet of their representation of clients.
That personalized dedication to clients was an immediate success. Since its origins, Berkowitz Oliver has grown to more than 30 attorneys whose practice centers on trials, appeals, arbitrations and regulatory and administrative proceedings, primarily in the commercial and business fields of law. The Firm has a national and regional clientele and has established its reputation as one of the premier litigation firms in the country. Like its founding members, most of the attorneys at Berkowitz Oliver have experience at large firms and use that experience to provide premier service in an efficient, flexible and cost-effective manner that the smaller size allows. The Firm has two offices - one in Kansas City, Missouri and one in Prairie Village, Kansas.

As trial attorneys, we have represented clients in state and federal trials and appellate court proceedings all over the country. In addition, we routinely appear in state and federal administrative hearings, FINRA and AAA arbitrations, and court-ordered and private mediation proceedings.

Being efficient doesn't mean cutting corners. It means identifying the objective to be achieved and working to achieve that objective in as short a time for as reasonable a cost as possible. Berkowitz Oliver attorneys do not engage in protracted legal skirmishes over matters that won’t advance resolution of the case. Litigation is a means to an end, not an end in itself. Keeping that in mind, Berkowitz Oliver always puts the interests of its clients first.

While we all work collaboratively and regularly draw upon one another’s expertise, we staff each case with a core of attorneys who are best-suited to the matter.
