Jennifer Wieland Obtains Discharge Upgrade for Veteran Client

Jennifer Wieland recently obtained a discharge upgrade from the Army for her veteran client as part of the Military Matters program of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation. Jennifer became a VA-accredited attorney in 2015 after participating in the KCMBF’s “Veterans Come First: How to Prosecute a VA Benefits Claim” program, which was presented by Jerry Wolf (Dentons), Angela Drake (University of Missouri School of Law), Celeste Krikorian (Military Order of the Purple Heart), and Sen. Claire McCaskill.

When Jennifer’s client was referred to her by KCMBF, his application for a discharge upgrade had been preliminarily denied. Jennifer worked with her client to develop supplemental information in support of his application and provide it to the Army. Her client recently received notification that the Army had changed its position and made the decision to upgrade his discharge status to honorable.
