Firm Sponsors Cooling Tent at AWL Golf Tournament
Berkowitz Oliver continued its perennial sponsorship of the “Cooling Tent” at the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City’s 29th annual “I’m Not Serious About Golf” tournament, held September 26 at Painted Hills Golf Course. Attorneys Jennifer Wieland, Laura Brooks, Stephanie Boord, Courtney Kroeger, and Stacey Gilman were on hand to pass out cold drinks and towels to golfers, as well as to give away prizes for winners of our infamous “duck pond” game.
Partner Megan Costello, who has served on AWL’s board for seven years, served as Vice Chair of the tournament and was on hand all day to ensure the event ran smoothly. The tournament raises funds for the AWL Foundation, which has a two-prong mission to help women in law develop and advance, and to help improve the lives of women and girls in the Kansas City community. Money raised from the tournament goes in part toward funding a full-ride scholarship to UMKC Law School for a deserving female student.
“AWL is making a difference for women practicing throughout the KC Metro Area and this event is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Costello. “Berkowitz Oliver is proud to be a part of the day and to support AWLF in promising better access to legal education and development for women.”
