Firm Holds “Pie Party” to Cap Off “Food From the Bar” in Support of Harvesters

On July 24, 2023, the firm held a Pie Party to cap off their support of Harvesters’ “Food From the Bar” campaign. Partners Jeff Morris and Tony Durone were “pied” in the face by paralegals Lauren Gleason and Kim Cox, respectively, as part of the day’s events.

The firm held a series of events throughout May to support Harvesters. On May 4, lunchtime bingo raised funds and awareness for the regional food bank. On May 30, attorneys and paralegals volunteered at Harvesters, filling boxes of food for the elderly. Throughout May, the firm held a coin drive to Pie-a-Partner. The coin drive pitted Morris v. Durone to raise money for Harvesters, with the top fundraiser earning the right to pie the other in the face at the Pie Party. One caveat: if the firm raised more than $1,000 for Harvesters through the coin drive, both Morris and Durone would receive a pie in the face. When that milestone was reached, members of the Firm gathered to enjoy pie and also watch the “pie-ing.”

Berkowitz Oliver ended the “Food From the Bar” campaign as the 2nd place law firm in Kansas City for donation and the 1st place law firm for hours volunteered. Partner Jennifer Wieland and paralegal LeeAnn Parmenter were the captains of “Team Berkowitz.”

Harvesters is a regional food bank that serves a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. Its mission is to mobilize the power of community to create equitable access to nutritious food and address the root causes and impact of hunger.
